Best Places to Write a Blog Post #BloggingGals #writing #writers

Blog posts can be quick and easy to write.

Due to technology you can whip up a post almost anywhere.

Here are some of my best places to write a blog post:

For the killer / viral potential blog post:

  • In the bath. I have some written some real gems whilst having a soak. All my popular posts were written in the bath! In my experience the more bubbles and rubber ducks the better!
  • In the kitchen whilst cooking tea. The meal hasn’t turned out great but my viewing figures have definitely made up for the culinary disaster. I like to cook and tap out a post at the same time.

For the emotional blog post:

  • In a bookshop.ย I am always close to tears in a bookshop. Any posts that I write, after standing staring at the shelf where my future book will eventually go, will be jam packed with emotion.
  • On the sofa post a tear jerker of a romantic film. I wipe away my tears and tell my loved one to pass me my phone quick. In a matter of minutes I have typed out something which will tug on my reader’s heart strings.

For the wild and whacky post:

  • In bed.ย Shortly after waking or in the early hours of the morning. These posts always make me see things differently!

For the intellectual post:

  • In a museum or art gallery. I must say I haven’t done many of these. I know this will surprise some of you ๐Ÿ™‚

For the sociable and chatty post:

  • In a coffee shop. Make sure you have a strong coffee to hand.
  • On the beach. It’s surprising what you can come up with whilst lying on a beach towel, looking around and being grateful for stopping yourself from wearing that string bikini!

For the deep and reflective post:

  • On a hill. Sat on top of a hill looking out across the world can bring on all sorts of meaningful posts.

For the fun and crazy post:

  • In a bar post a delicious cocktail. My goodness this will bring on some interesting thoughts which you will be desperate to share with your readers! ย Please note: one cocktail and your blog post will be bright and breezy. Writing a post after several cocktails is a totally different experience (and one to avoid if possible…)

Other places to consider writing a blog post:

  • In a car park.
  • In the vets waiting room.
  • At a station waiting for a train.
  • At an airport.
  • On a plane.
  • Whilst walking to work.
  • In a supermarket whilst pushing the trolley. I find that I get a lot of my blog post ideas in the frozen food section.

Have fun writing those blog posts!

  1. Not tried the bath yet… But most places I am, if inspiration hits, my notes app on my phone is out, ready to receive the awe inspiring notes which will transform into an amazing post later on!

      1. Truth us, I don’t get time for a soak very often so my opportunities are few and far between!!! One day… I’ll join your bath inspired post writer ranks!!!!

  2. Three years ago In the Bath I tried, but dropped my tablet, ๐Ÿ˜ฑit died. I have to admit some of my best ones have been on the toilet. It’s a strain but somebody has to admit it. ๐Ÿ˜‡ c’mon if men can read…

  3. Up a tree…got carried away in thought once and came close to sawing through the branch I was on.

    At sea … I’ve cruised a lot!

And all too often recently … driving … crossed a few red lights …. gotta stop!

  4. Most of my ideas for writing, blogs or otherwise, come from being on the move! Either walking, or driving, that’s when I find my inspiration strikes! (I advise pulling over if you’re going to jot anything down whilst driving though!) Great post ๐Ÿ™‚ Love hearing everyone else places of inspiration!

  5. No wonder I’m not getting a total cosmic buzz!! (though I will also pass on the string bikini)
Anyhow my blogs comes to me when I’m wandering about in my usual daze and I hope stay somewhere in my head
They are usual written with coffee or tea close at hand and music on (earphones essential) and for some reason which I cannot explain sitting cross-legged on the floor with laptop on a small rickety coffee table.

  6. I’ve written far too many in airport terminal waiting areas or otherwise on the road with varying disastrous results. I don’t tend to write them on my phone as I tend to get wordy while my fingers at the same time get lazy, though I do use the phone for last minute word swaps / editing. I’ve never tried writing while bathing – though that may have something to do with my youngest not exactly respecting the unspoken request for privacy that the bathroom door is supposed to command.

  7. Isn’t it funny where and when inspiration will strike? I get my best ideas while walking my dogs! I’m now in the habit of taking my phone and opening google docs in my dropbox (cloud) and I can dictate my ideas to a word doc. So cool. Great post, Lucy!

  8. I unfortunately have no way of blogging except when I am sat on the sofa with my laptop, in the living room, with the dog next to me. That needs to change me thinks!

      1. Because we can’t just stay in our comfort zones. If we do, we will never develop and never find that new thing that keeps us inspired.

  9. I wrote blog posts in bed, a coffee shop, and a bookstore. I’ve written blog posts in my car, listening to NPR sometimes. I haven’t tried a bath because I don’t fit and I’m afraid of dropping my phone. I don’t go to bars because it’s not my style.

  10. So the wild and wacky posts are after you wake in the morning, but what about those that pop into your head right when you’re about to fall asleep and suddenly you have to scramble to find paper and knock everything off your nightstand and wake up your roommates… or just blind yourself with your phone to the point where you forget what you were going to write down in the first place. :p What kind of posts are those?
