Recently I listened to the audiobook version of ‘Light is the New Black,’ by Rebecca Campbell. I was feeling a little lost with life and a bit blue when I read it.
Rebecca’s words gave me a warm internal hug, made me reassess my life purpose and set me back on the path. If you are in a dark place with life, I strongly recommend diving into this book.
In Rebecca’s book there is a fabulous quote which made me squeal.
Rebecca reads this quote on her audiobook and she puts so much feeling and emotion behind her words you can’t help but feel yourself rise again.
So, I thought I would try to replicate this specifically for writers.
I am hoping somewhere, someone feels inspired and motivated by these words below of mine. Just one person and then my work will be done.
Here we go:
Rise Writer Rise.
RISE WRITER RISE. When you have been inundated with rejections and you start to doubt whether there is a place for your work.
RISE WRITER RISE. When you are struggling to find the energy and inner strength to start your 6th draft and you are wondering whether you are wasting your time.
RISE WRITER RISE. When the feedback from your beta readers suggests you completely lost your way with the painful rewrite of your third draft and all you want to do is lie down and cry.
RISE WRITER RISE. When everyone, apart from you, is enjoying some sort of creative success and you feel like giving up.
RISE WRITER RISE. When you are crippled with self-doubt and can’t write a single sentence.
RISE WRITER RISE. When you are lying on the sofa, stuffing Oreos into your mouth, telling yourself you will get back to writing once you have sampled this new Netflix series everyone is raving about.
Hope you enjoyed my take on this.
No matter what writing lows we experience we must keep rising.
Have a good day, writers.
